Ann Curry

Ann Curry, an American photojournalist and journalist who has covered the natural and military disasters of nearly 45 years. Her focus is on the suffering of those living in these regions. Curry reported on conflicts in Kosovo Iraq Syria Lebanon Palestine Afghanistan Darfur Congo, and Central African Republic. Ann Curry, (born November 19th 1956, Agana American journalist and television anchor and news reporter. She was best known for her role as a reporter on the Today show, a news morning show that was telecast through the National Broadcasting Co. (NBC). Curry was known for her reporting on humanitarian crises in war-torn nations and natural catastrophes. Curry's father served as a sailor with the U.S. Navy and her mother was Japanese. Her father was with her mother in Japan when he was a stationed there following World War II. Because of her father's military service, the family relocated frequently. Curry graduated from high school in Ashland Oregon. She graduated in 1978 at in the University of Oregon with a bachelor's degree in journalism. Her journey to a successful career when she began her career in broadcasting by working as an intern for KTVL Channel 10 in Medford Oregon. She was later the first woman news reporter in the station's history at the young age of. Then, she stepped onto becoming an anchor and reporter for KGW, an NBC affiliate station located in Portland. Four years later she moved into Los Angeles and became a journalist at KCBS TV. In the course of her work with the station for 6 years that she was awarded two Emmy Awards.
